Privacy policy

What we collect on binarybuddies.in, why, who else sees it, and how to have it changed or deleted.

1. Who we are

This website, binarybuddies.in, is run by Binary Buddies, an independent software studio run by Hitesh Virani in Junagadh, Gujarat, India (“we”, “us”). We decide how the personal data described here is used, so we are responsible for it: the “data fiduciary” under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and the “controller” under the GDPR for visitors from the EU and UK.

This policy covers this website only. Each app has its own privacy policy, linked from its Google Play listing and listed on App privacy policies.

2. What we collect and why

Contact forms
Your first and last name, email address, and anything else you choose to give us: phone number, company, the service you are interested in and your message. We use it to reply to you and, if you want, to prepare a proposal.
Job applications
Your name, email address, phone number, cover letter and CV file. We use them only to consider your application.
Signing in with Google
When you sign in, Google shares your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID with us. We use them to run your account, show your name and picture next to your comments, and remember the posts you like. We never see your Google password.
Comments and likes
What you post or send. Comments are public and appear with your name and profile picture.
View counts
When a blog post or song page is opened, we add one to that page's view counter. The count is not linked to you.
Server logs
Like every website, our server records the IP address, browser, page requested and time of each request. We use these logs to keep the site secure and working.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for anything other than the purposes above.

3. Cookies, analytics and advertising

Essential storage
If you sign in, a session cookie keeps you signed in. Your cookie choice is saved in your browser so we don't ask again.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to count visits. It runs in Google's Consent Mode: until you click “Accept”, it stores nothing on your device and sends only cookieless measurements. If you accept, it uses cookies to measure visits more accurately. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookies” link at the bottom of every page.
Advertising on blog articles
Blog articles may show ads from Monetag, a third-party ad network. These ads load whatever your cookie choice is, and Monetag may use cookies and device identifiers to show, limit and measure ads under its own privacy policy. There are no ads on our homepage, service, product, about, contact or legal pages.

4. Who else processes your data

We use a small number of service providers, who process data on our behalf:

  • Contabo hosts our server, in Germany.
  • Google provides sign-in, analytics and our email. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Monetag serves the ads on blog articles.
  • Cloudflare stores files uploaded to the site in its R2 storage: images, and the CVs sent with job applications. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

We may also disclose data if the law requires it. Because our server is in Germany and our providers operate internationally, your data may be processed outside India or outside your own country.

5. How long we keep it

We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected for: messages and applications until we have dealt with them and any follow-up has finished, and account data, comments and likes for as long as your account exists. Short-link click records, including IP addresses, have no fixed end date, so that a link's traffic can be compared over months and years. You can ask us to delete any of it sooner, and we will, unless the law requires us to keep it. For short-link records, tell us the link and roughly when you opened it, or your IP address, so we can find them.

6. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy;
  • correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
  • delete your data, including your account, comments and likes;
  • stop using your data where we rely on your consent, such as analytics cookies.

Email us at hello@binarybuddies.in and we will reply within 30 days. Under India's DPDP Act you may also nominate someone to exercise these rights for you. If you are in the EU or UK, you can complain to your local data protection authority, though we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

7. Children

This website is not meant for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us their data, email us and we will delete it.

8. Security

The whole site is served over HTTPS, access to personal data is limited to the people who need it, and we keep our server software up to date. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

9. Changes to this policy

If what we collect or who we share it with changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes we will also put a notice on the homepage.

10. Contact and grievances
