Step Counter Terms of Use

The rules for using Step Counter: its numbers are estimates, it isn't a medical device, and it's free because it shows ads.

Effective 7 November 2026. These terms apply to Step Counter, published by Binary Buddies.

In short

  • Steps come from your phone's sensor. Distance, calories and pace are estimates.
  • Step Counter is not a medical device. Please do not rely on it for medical decisions.
  • It is free to install and shows ads from Google AdMob.
  • Your step history and body details stay on your phone, so we cannot restore them for you.

This summary is here to help. The full terms below are what apply.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

Step Counter is published by Binary Buddies, an independent software studio run by Hitesh Virani in Junagadh, Gujarat, India ("we", "us"). These terms are the agreement between you and us for using Step Counter. By installing or using it, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

Google Play's own terms also apply to downloading the app from Google Play and to anything you pay for there.

2. What Step Counter does

Step Counter reads your phone's built-in step sensor and shows your steps, distance, calories, active time and pace. It has no account and no sign-in.

3. Who can use it

If you are under the age at which you can accept a contract where you live, a parent or guardian needs to accept these terms for you.

4. Your right to use the app

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use Step Counter on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, as long as you follow these terms. You agree not to:

  • copy, sell, rent or redistribute the app, or publish a changed version of it;
  • take the app apart or try to get at its source code, except where the law lets you;
  • use it to break the law or anyone else's rights;
  • interfere with the app, or with any server or service it connects to.

5. Price, ads and purchases

Step Counter is free to install. It shows ads from Google AdMob, starting a few days after you install it. We do not choose each ad or endorse what it offers, and anything you buy from an advertiser is between you and them.

If Step Counter ever offers something to buy, you buy it through Google Play. Google takes the payment, and Google Play's refund rules apply, along with any right to cancel or get a refund that the law gives you.

6. Estimates, not medical advice

Steps are measured by your phone's sensor, which can miss steps or count movement that was not a step. Distance, calories, pace and similar figures are estimates worked out from your step count and the body details you enter. They are not measurements, and they are not medical information.

Step Counter is not a medical device. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. Please do not rely on it for medical decisions. If you have concerns about your health, or about starting to exercise, speak to a doctor.

Exercise at a pace that is safe for you, and keep an eye on your surroundings, not your screen, while you are moving.

7. Your data on your phone

Your step history and body details are kept only on your phone, and uninstalling Step Counter removes them. We never receive them, so we cannot restore them for you.

8. Your information

How Step Counter handles information is explained in its privacy policy.

9. Updates and availability

We may update Step Counter, change or remove features, or stop offering it. We cannot promise that it will work on every device or version of Android, or that it will always be available.

10. Who owns what

Step Counter, including its name, logo, artwork and code, belongs to us or to those who license it to us. These terms give you the right to use it, not ownership of it. Parts of the app come from others and keep their own licences. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.

11. No guarantee, and the limits of our liability

We work to keep Step Counter reliable, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". We cannot promise that it will always work, be free of errors or suit your particular purpose.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit or business, arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

12. Your rights as a consumer

If you use the app as a consumer, you keep every right the law of your country gives you that cannot be signed away. In the European Economic Area and the UK, that includes your legal rights if digital content does not work as described. If anything in these terms conflicts with those rights, those rights win.

13. Ending your use

You can stop at any time by uninstalling Step Counter.

14. Law and disputes

If you have a problem, please email us first at hello@binarybuddies.in. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes go to the courts of Junagadh, Gujarat, India. If you are a consumer living in another country, this does not take away the protection of that country's mandatory laws, or any right you have to bring a claim in your local courts.

15. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms, for example when the app or the law changes. We will update this page and its update history, and where we can we will make important changes clear in the app or on its store page. If you keep using Step Counter after a change, you accept the new terms. If you don't accept them, please stop using it.
